i gave in and got my hair cut last night. i wanted to let it grow out, but, eh, it was just *too* much. so now it's short and brad pitt-ish, heh. my hairstylist says that i've been putting on some 'holiday' weight...gee, thanks. but then she said that i'm a good weight now 'cos i was too skinny before. nice save. today i'm wearing the ribbed sweater i was given yesterday and everyone's telling me how nice it is. yeah, i likes it. so far the day has gone about as well as i could've hoped. i'm actually surprised at all the love i'm getting...i've gotten some neat-o presents (i'm not going to open them until tonight, but i'm sure they're neat-o). my two girls thought it'd be funny to buy me a whole caseload of wine coolers. haha. they lined them up to make a '2-1' on my floor. awww. i'm really, really pleased with my loot. =) someone's buying my lunch today and then later we're going to have some birthday pumpkin pie. hurrah for birthday pie! oh, and god knows what kind of surprise awaits me when i get home tonight. =O i feel a little weird, 'tho. i like getting presents and stuff, but, it kinda makes me uncomfortable. it's like i'm not really sure how to act and stuff. i'm not used to receiving gifts, i'm so much better at giving them. oh well. and what's the deal with this weather?! why couldn't it have rained yesterday? boo. i'm so excited my tummy hurts. =) |

i ate a dozen buffalo wings for lunch 'cos they all ordered pizza and i just know that i'm going to be eating pizza for dinner tonight. i just know it. wow, i just realized that i'm old enough to go to sports bars on sundays and watch football and eat all the buffalo wings i want. y'know, if i was so inclined. so lunch was great and i was starting to wonder about my birthday cake (which differs from the birthday pumpkin pie in that the cake is meant for the entire office) and i was pretty much resigned to not having a cake until the receptionist totally blew the surprise my girlfriends had planned for me. she let slip that they had bought me a cake and so from that point on, i just kept waiting to see how they were going to present it to me. so what they did was this: they called everyone in the office on their personal extensions and asked them to come to the kitchen. but let me just tell you that i wasn't fooled for one second. i was onto them from the moment people started walking one by one into the hallway that leads to the kitchen. and then i get a call from the receptionist downstairs asking me to buy her a soda from the soda machine inside the kitchen. i play along amiably and grumble ('oh, get your own soda') and she says 'pleeeeeease can you bring me a soda?' and so i say, 'oooook, sure'. keep in mind, these aren't shakespearean actors i'm talking about here. knowing that this is my cue to walk into the kitchen, i continue playing along, walking into the dark kitchen only to be greeted with a resounding 'SURPRISE!!!'. haha. i feign shock and act genuinely surprised 'cos i wanted them to feel like they 'got me'. haha. even with the blown surprise, it was still one of the most exciting things thats ever happened to me. the amount of planning and preparation they put into all this, on my behalf...it just leaves me speechless. i'm just so touched. best_birthday_ever. =D |
