Health-wise, on a scale of 1-10, I'm about an 8 today.
Which is a marked improvement on the 1 I was yesterday.
And it really does take being a 1 (read: a fever of 102.7), or significant loss of blood, or blunt-force trauma to the head, to keep me away from the office. The last time I was too sick to come into work was nearly four years ago, immediately after my 21st birthday extravaganza in Vegas. At that time I had I partied way too hard and wound up breaking my immune system in half. This latest bug's origins, though, is proving much harder to pinpoint.
I can see how me, Lorien and Daniel are all sick, since we all hung out over the weekend, but how did Brett get it if he wasn't part of the equation since Friday? Daniel, Brett and I all had lunch on Friday, but we were all fine then. Or were we?? I'm trying to figure out a common denominator here, but it's just not adding up. I guess it's just "going around".
I'm pretty useless when I'm sick, so it's nice to have a mama bear at home to make me tortilla soup and cornbread, and bring me Theraflu, and order Thai delivery, 'cos I can't deal with any of that when I'm wrecked. Poor Brett, though; he's still laid up in bed.
If anyone's curious, here are the details of my get-well quick plan:
-24 hours of non-stop bed-rest
-128 ounces of orange juice
-4 shots of Nyquil
-2 cups of Theraflu
-1 echinacea pill
I think next year I'm going to look into getting a flu shot, because being stuck in bed feeling like Linda Blair in The Exorcist ain't my idea of fun.

glad to hear you're back in the world of internet though (and health, i suppose). HOW BORING was yesterday?
November 30 2005, 21:55:15 UTC 6 years ago
I have no idea how boring yesterday was because honestly, I didn't even get out of bed until 7 or so. There was a period earlier in the afternoon when I started going insane and had visions of running to the bathroom, filling up the tub and having Brett throw frozen food on me.
You should've seen us. If we weren't so contagious we'd almost be cute, in all of our sad puppy-dog glory.

Then carlo tells me he is sick with bronchitis (what I think I have) and that it was going around his house. Damn him! If thats what you had I'd blame him :-p
Thank you for the tips, well i've had the 2 days of sleep and nyquil so I need to get the other two ASAP. Too bad i'm so sick I can't drive.
Ok done with my bitchy post, I had fun Saturday we must do it again sometime. But pre screen people for cold bugs first.

I hope you start feeling better soon too! Being sick is the pits.
December 1 2005, 01:36:00 UTC 6 years ago
i am amazed at how few times i've gotten sick in the past few months. i don't eat well or enough, and i'm like constantly running around being exposed to other people's germs. my body must know what a big deal it would be for me right now, and it's being extra tough.
i'm glad you're feeling better!! when i read in brett's livejournal that you were both down and that you STAYED HOME FROM WORK, i nearly brough you chicken soup myself. (i knew you would be dead asleep for an extended period of time though, so i figured i would just give you a congratulatory cookie or something once you got better.)

Probably so, but this reminded me of that one Simpsons when Mr. Burns went to get a physical and instead of being healthy the doctor told him he had every disease imaginable, but that they were jammed in the doorway. Hahah. But seriously, a strong mental attitude totally goes a long way in keeping your immune system strong. That's what I believe anyway.
Awww, I'm sure we both would have appreciated some chicken soup, but it's more important for you to stay away from us until we can Lysol the apartment down. Thank you for the sweet thoughts, though! And you know that I am TOTALLY taking you up on that cookie, right? :)

The trick is to go to walmart and get tussin. Just plain tussin. Drink the entire bottle.
You'll wake up thinking that you've accomplished transdimensional travel and ended up in an parallel universe made of jello, but I'm telling you, it works.
December 1 2005, 02:06:41 UTC 6 years ago
I'm am totally going to get some 'Tussin, but since I'm an amateur, I'm going "take as needed". To start, anyway. I'm sure I'll build up to one dosage = one bottle in no time.

Blame me?
Well, I was sick last week and a half but nothing like on the scale you described. Anyway glad you're feeling better.December 1 2005, 20:21:25 UTC 6 years ago
Re: Blame me?
Lorien actually feels bad because she thinks it's all her fault. Apparently one of her co-workers had it last week and she thinks she brought it home with her and passed it on to us. Wherever we got it from, at least we got it early on in the week/month so as to not interfere with our holiday festivities. And hopefully now we're immune! YAY.December 1 2005, 06:56:43 UTC 6 years ago

I've gotten my boss sick and it looks like about half of the office too; I'm not very popular right now. This flu IS extreme though! I thought I was all over it but I can feel it doubling back around to attack again; I feel worse today than I did yesterday. Ugh.
Thanks for the well wishes!
